FOSSIL FUELS

  • President Donald Trump signs an executive order allowing anyone to purchase tax-exempt ​“red-dye” diesel, which is typically reserved for farm vehicles and machinery. (NBC News)

  • The Supreme Court runs the risk of issuing a split decision in a case over whether local governments can sue fossil fuel companies for climate damages, as Justice Samuel Alito has recused himself from the case. (Politico)

NUCLEAR

  • Google says it will buy 3.5 GW of power from Constellation Energy for use in PJM Interconnection, with nuclear making up 890 MW of that purchase agreement. (Reuters, news release)
  • Fusion startup Type One Energy raises $200 million as it seeks to build a 400-MW commercial power plant that it hopes will serve as a blueprint for other plants. (TechCrunch)

SOLAR

  • American solar panel manufacturers say they’re close to unlocking tandem solar technology, which would allow them to add second and third layers of material to panels and expand their generation capacity. (New York Times)
  • The U.S. exported $6.3 million worth of solar cells and modules to Cuba in the first seven months of the year, a major increase from all of 2025 that has helped residents and businesses keep the lights on amid the island’s energy crunch. (Bloomberg)
