Michigan poised to adopt sweeping clean energy bills

CLEAN ENERGY: Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to sign a series of bills lawmakers have now mostly passed to ramp up renewable energy targets and move wind and solar permitting decisions to state regulators. (Bridge)

BATTERIES:

PIPELINES: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers concludes a second public hearing in North Dakota on an environmental review of the Dakota Access pipeline, drawing some opposition about the meetings’ format. (Bismarck Tribune)

ELECTRIFICATION: Advocates push for Chicago to become the latest city to adopt electrification requirements to reduce carbon emissions from buildings. (WBEZ)

ELECTRIC VEHICLES: Michigan utilities and researchers are working to expand and improve accessibility of electric vehicle charging stations as vehicle adoption is expected to grow. (WMMT)

UTILITIES: Minnesota Power joins major gas utilities in the state in asking regulators for a rate increase, which the electric utility says would support higher production and delivery costs as well as hiring workers. (MPR)
