If you’re like us at Midwest Energy News, you may have been wondering whether the 134-turbine enXco wind farm near Worthington, Minn., that was purchased Wednesday by Xcel Energy is the same 134-turbine enXco wind farm near Worthington, Minn., that was put on hold last month after its power buyer backed out.
They’re not.
The Xcel project is in Nobles County, which is northwest of Worthington. Here’s a map (PDF) showing the specific location.
The other enXco project is in Jackson County, which is further east. Here’s a copy of the certificate of need application (also a PDF).
An earlier version of Midwest Energy News implied that these were the same project. We apologize for any confusion.
Ken Paulman is the director of impact at Canary Media. He was previously the founder and director of the Energy News Network, which merged with Canary Media in 2025.
