GEOTHERMAL

  • Ormat Technologies says it has designed what will be the biggest geothermal power plant in the industry, with its 100-MW capacity doubling that of Ormat’s current largest operating plant. (Reuters, news release)

TRANSPORTATION

  • American Airlines and Google announce a deal in which the airline will use 35 million gallons of sustainable aviation fuel over three years, with Google benefiting through SAF credits. (news release)

CLEAN ENERGY

  • The White House adds Trinasolar and JA Solar Technology, two major solar panel manufacturers, to a list of companies it claims are aiding China’s military, blocking the Department of Defense from buying from those companies. (Reuters)

  • The Global Wind Energy Council anticipates more than 327 GW of new offshore wind capacity will come online worldwide through 2035, bringing total installed capacity to 420 GW. (Reuters)

NUCLEAR

  • The Republican-led House Energy and Commerce Committee will consider a package of bills this week aimed at speeding nuclear reactor licensing. (E&E News)

COAL

  • Rivian will launch a lower-priced version of its R2 SUV next summer, with an entry-level model starting at around $45,000. (CNBC)

DATA CENTERS

  • Microsoft files a proposed ratepayer protection tariff with Nevada utility regulators that aims to spell out which costs the tech company will cover as it looks to build data centers in the state, marking one of the most comprehensive utility-rate proposals to date. (Utility Dive)

  • A new analysis from global environmental groups finds the world’s 65 largest banks provided $906 billion in financing for fossil fuels in 2025, marking two consecutive years of growth. (report)
