Tariffs on Canadian energy remain in place

TARIFFS

  • A 10% tariff on energy from Canada remains in place, even as the Trump administration delays implementation of many tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada, but Ontario Premier Doug Ford says a 25% surcharge on electricity sent to the U.S. will remain in place. (CNN, Politico)

OFFSHORE WIND

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

  • Maine lawmakers consider a plan to use funds from regional grid operator ISO New England to help restart its electric vehicle incentive program, which exhausted its previous funding in the fall. (Portland Press Herald)

  • A Maryland legislator proposes delaying penalties for dealers not meeting the state’s requirement that 40% of new vehicles sold be electric starting in 2027, citing insufficient charging infrastructure and the possible elimination of federal EV tax credits. (Maryland Matters)


AFFORDABILITY

  • Dozens of Connecticut ratepayers testify about their struggles with high energy costs at a hearing on competing bills that propose different routes to lowering power prices, from promoting nuclear development to eliminating a fee that helps pay for energy efficiency services and low-income bill assistance.   • Delaware Gov.
