NATURAL GAS: Renewable energy advocates raise concerns about storing liquefied natural gas next to power plants, including in South Dakota, where utility officials say the plan would be more economical and reliable than expanding pipelines. (States Newsroom)

  • Local opponents ask for EPA oversight of a company’s plan to clear 120 acres of trees for a proposed electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant in central Michigan. (Detroit News)
  • Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen and 15 other GOP governors call on the Biden administration to walk back proposed vehicle emission standards and a goal for two-thirds of new cars sold in 2032 to be electric. (USA Today)

POWER PLANTS: Two coal plants in Ohio and Indiana that are now subsidized by ratepayers under Ohio’s House Bill 6 were at one point losing between $150,000 to $175,000 a day, according to recently revealed emails from utility officials. (Checks and Balances Project)
