Today marks the official launch of Global Warning, a new site that tracks climate change issues from a national security standpoint.

The site is a project of Northwestern University’s renowned Medill School of Journalism, and is fed by a team of eight reporters led by Josh Meyer, a former national security reporter for the Los Angeles times, and Ellen Shearer, a professor at Medill.

While some like to pretend that the science climate change is an open question subject to debate, military and intelligence planners take the threat seriously and are planning accordingly. It’s refreshing to see a news site that takes a scientific, rather than political, approach to the issue.
