Eric Wesoff, Managing Editor

Eric Wesoff is a prominent industry analyst, writer, consultant, speaker, thought-leader and expert witness in the renewable energy field. He has expertise in clean technology investing and finance, utility structures and regulatory climate, solar power, energy storage, microgrids, and the electrical grid.

He most recently served as senior editor for solar publication pv magazine. Prior to that, he was editor-in-chief of green technology market analysis and media firm Greentech Media, read by hundreds of thousands of businesspeople every month. He has been published or quoted in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and Wired.

Jeff St. John, Editor-in-Chief

Jeff St. John covers the intersection of technological, economic and regulatory issues influencing the global transition to low-carbon energy in the electricity, transportation and building sectors. He is the former managing editor and senior grid edge editor of Greentech Media, and he previously reported for The Fresno Bee, the Tri-City Herald and the Anchorage Daily News. He lives in Oakland, California with his wife Tara Donoghue and his dog Lily, and enjoys hiking, gardening and playing guitar with his nieces and nephews.

His areas of expertise include renewable energy, smart grid, distributed energy resources, energy storage, demand response and electric vehicles.

He earned a master’s degree from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism in 2001.

Lisa Hymas, Senior Editor

Lisa Hymas is senior editor at Canary Media. She's an experienced editor and writer focused on climate change and energy. She was a founding editor at Grist, where she ran the newsroom for many years, and she directed the climate and energy program at Media Matters for America. She also worked previously at GRID-Arendal, Greenwire and Island Press. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Mother Jones, Slate, Salon and other outlets.

Julian reports on the rise of clean energy. He worked at Greentech Media for nearly five years, and before that he reported for CityLab at The Atlantic and conducted grant-funded freelance journalism on climate impacts in Bangladesh. His stories have appeared elsewhere in The Guardian, HuffPost, Al Jazeera America and more. He graduated from Duke University and basks in the sunshine  of Los Angeles.

Michelle Vessel is Editorial Integrity Manager at Canary Media, where she oversees copyediting, editorial processes and quality initiatives. Before coming to Canary, she worked as a copyeditor at Greentech Media for 11 years. She lives in Colorado with her husband and three dogs.
